GENERAL / MARKINGS
Arbor Elite, Tachyon, Fly, & Safety Blue meet
or exceed the life safety rope requirements of
the European Standard for Personal Protec-
tive Equipment for the Prevention of Falls from
a Height. Ref. EN 1891:1998 Type A, for Low
Stretch Kernmantle Ropes.
Arbor Elite, Tachyon, Fly, & Safety Blue are intended
for use in rescue operation from above a victim or
for rappelling, or for rope-assisted operations like
work positioning or access, and in speleology. Ar-
bor Elite is limited to low stretch, static situations.
Should the risk of free fall arise, a dynamic rope is
recommended for use. Refer to EN892 for require-
ments.
While using Arbor Elite, Tachyon, Fly or Safety Blue,
anchoring points should always be above the user.
The anchor point should have a minimum strength
equal to that of the rope. Avoid slack between the
anchor and the user. Misuse of this product or use
in conjunction with incorrect hardware and/or rap-
pelling devices may cause serious injury or jeopar-
dize the safety of the user.
Arbor Elite, Tachyon, Fly, & Safety Blue shall be
used with NFPA or CE approved hardware and re-
lated equipment. The hardware must be suitable for
the diameter of rope being used. If used in a fall ar-
rest system, a full body harness is the only accept-
able body holding device.
Only qualified personnel should use the rope unless
under the direct supervision of a person specifically
qualified in life safety, rescue, and rappelling activi-
ties. Historical use and inspection records should
be kept that detail each use and the results of each
inspection. The rope should be used by the same
person that maintains the historical use record of
that rope. The record for each rope use should note
such things as shock loads and weights to which
rope was subjected, number of uses, etc. This will
help to determine when to retire the rope.
Arbor Elite, Tachyon, Fly, & Safety Blue should not
be used by anyone owning a medical condition af-
fecting the user's strength, stamina, vision, sense of
balance, respiration, or other human faculty, reason-
ably and normally required to undertake strenuous
activity.
It is the responsibility of the user that a relevant
Risk Assessment is in place for the work to be car-
ried out which includes emergency contingencies.
A plan of rescue measures that covers all foresee-
able emergencies needs to be in place before this
4
product can be used. Prior to and during use,
rescue measures that can be executed safely and
effectively must be considered at all times.
!
WARNING
In case of a fall and for the safety of the user, it is
essential to verify the minimum free space beneath
the user before each occasion of rope use to ensure
there will be no collision with the ground or other
obstacles.
MARKINGS
Each rope is marked with an informative sticker at
each end with important information regarding the
model, diameter in mm, rope type (either A or B),
serial number, date of manufacture, and appropriate
standard which the rope has passed.
Additionally, the pictogram on the label (i) Is a sym-
bol advising users to read the instructions for use
before use.
CE indicates the rope has passed testing in accor-

the commercial names of the ropes.

Type A ropes and are designed for general use by
persons in rope access including all kinds of work
positioning and restraint; in rescue, and in speleol-

Type B ropes are low stretch kern mantle ropes of
a lower performance than type A ropes, requiring
greater care in use to minimize the possibility of
a fall. Type B ropes are intended for descending
or lowering in case of rescue using an appropriate
descender conforming to EN 341. Type B ropes are
not recommended for use in rope access and work
positioning.
