CLEANING
After each use, remove the bar-clamping plate
to clean debris from around the drive sprocket
and tensioning system.
Clean debris from the saw chain and guide bar
with a soft brush. Wipe the guide bar surface
and the rest of the tool with a clean cloth.
Always clean out wood chips, saw dust, and
dirt from the guide-bar groove when replacing
the saw chain.
DISASSEMBLING THE GUIDE BAR AND
SAW CHAIN (FIG. 12)
1. Disconnect the power cord from the power
source, allow the saw to cool, and then
tighten the oil-tank cap.
2. Position the carpentry chainsaw on its
side on a firm, flat surface, so that the bar-
clamping plate is facing upward.
3. Wear gloves. Turn the bar-clamping knob
counterclockwise to remove the bar-
clamping plate. Clean the bar-clamping
plate with a dry cloth.
4. At the nose of the guide bar and saw chain,
loosen the nose-cap screw (Fig. 12b)
5. Turn the chain-tension knob counter-
clock wise to loosen the saw chain from
the sprocket (Fig. 12b). Remove the bar
and chain from the mounting surface and
remove it from the nose cap and out from
the foot plate.
6. Remove the worn saw chain from the
guide bar.
7. Inspect the guide bar, sprocket, and
washer for wear and replace if necessary.
NOTICE: It is recommended that the sprocket
and sprocket washer be replaced after two
saw chain replacements.
