1 Safety

The equipment includes appropriate security measures. This protection
is compromised if the centrifuge is used in a way not specified in this
manual.
Risky situations that must be respected are indicated along this manual
and must be respected.

1.1 Risks to which the operator is subject

• Risk of infection due to sample handling.
• Risk of parts expelled.
• Electric risk.

1.2 Personnel qualification

This equipment can only be used by personnel who have been properly
qualified. This equipment can only be used by personnel who have read
and understood these instructions or who has been properly qualified in
the operation of this equipment.
Handle of biological specimens requires special knowledge.

1.3 Use with hazardous substances

When you know that the materials used in the centrifuge are toxic, ra-
dioactive or contaminated by pathogenic microorganisms, the following
safety measures must be applied:
• Containers specified by the manufactures will be used, to ensure
sealing with those materials.
• When materials of Risk Group II are handled according to the identi-
fication «Biological Safety for Laboratories Manual» edited by the World
Health Organization, act accordingly to the instructions.
• In case of materials belonging to a higher group, it requires a higher
level of protection.
• It is forbidden to centrifuge the following materials in these centri-
fuges:
- Flammable or explosive materials.
- Materials that chemically react with enough violence to cause a hazard.
