Note: Your option kit might also contain an update diskette for IBM DVD
software or IBM CD-RW software.

Installation requirements

To install the CD-RW/DVD drive, your computer must meet the following
minimum requirements:
v ThinkPad computer with Ultrabay 2000 drive bay, ThinkPad Dock, or
ThinkPad UltraBase X2 media slice
v Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows 98, Windows 95, or
Windows NT 4.0 operating system
Note: The ThinkPad A21e computer does not support DVD playback under
Windows NT.

Installing the drive

Your ThinkPad computer includes an on-board help system, Access ThinkPad,
that provides drive installation instructions specific to your computer. To
correctly install the CD-RW/DVD drive into the Ultrabay 2000 drive bay in
your ThinkPad computer, be sure to use the instructions given in the help
system.

Locating the drive controls

The following diagram shows the location of the controls on the front of the
drive.

This light is visible when drive is in use.
