Warning notice and safety regulations for dry,
pre-charged batteries with acid pack
Observe instructions on the battery, in the
directions for use and in the operating
instructions for the vehicle or machine.
Wear eye protectors! Observe accident
prevention regulations as well as DIN VDE
0510, VDE 0105 T.1.
Keep children away from acid and batteries.
Risk of explosion:
When charging the battery a highly explosi-
ve mixture is generated, therefore:
Fire, sparks, naked light and smoking are
forbidden:
Avoid creating sparks when working with
cables and electrical devices!
Avoid short circuits.
Risk of acid burns:
Battery acid is extremely corrosive, therefore:
Wear protective gloves and eye protectors.
Do not tip battery up, acid can come out of
the degasifying holes.
First Aid:
For splashes of acid in the eyes, bathe them
for several minutes in clean water. Thereafter
seek medical help immediately.

Directions for unfilled batteries
1. Storage and transport
Unfilled batteries require no maintenance. Store
them in a cool (frost-free) and dry place.
Filled batteries should be transported and stored in
an upright position otherwise acid can leak out.
Secure batteries against tipping over when
transported.
2. Preparing for use
Unfilled charged batteries are ready to use without
any special charging after they have been filled with
battery acid.
When filling takes place, both battery and acid
should be at a temperature of at least 10 °C.
Remove threaded plugs.
Fill the individual cells of the battery with sulphuric
acid according to VDE (Association of German
Electrical Engineers) 0510 of 1.28 kg/l concentration
(for tropical countries 1.23 kg/l) up to the max. acid
level mark, or 15 mm above the upper surface of
the plate.
Leave the battery standing for 15 minutes, tilt it
slightly a few times and if necessary top up with
acid.
Screw on threaded plugs firmly or press them in.
Wipe off any existing splashes of acid.
Filled batteries are ready for use.
Recommendation: Charge the battery after it has
been filled.
3. Installing in the machine
Before installing or removing the battery, disconnect
all consumers of current.
Avoid short circuits – do not rest any tools or
metallic objects on the battery!
When installing the battery, first connect the posi-
tive post (+), then the negative post (–). Make sure
the pole terminals are firmly seated.
Before installing the battery, clean the space for it
in the machine.
Secure the battery firmly in place.
Clean the battery posts and pole terminals.
When removing the battery, first disconnect the
negative post (–) then the positive post (+).
