4. Maintenance
To achieve a long working life of the battery, the
instructions below should be followed:
Keep the surface of the battery clean and dry.
Check the acid level in the battery regularly and if
required, top up with distilled or desalinated water.
Do not use any so-called improving agents
The state of charge of the battery can be checked
by measuring the acid concentration. If the acid
concentration lies under 1.21 kg/l (or 1.18 kg/l at fill
factor 1.23 kg/l) the battery has to be re-charged.
At this level of acid concentration the battery is
protected against freezing up to –15 °C (at 1.28 kg/
l to –70 °C).
5. Shut-down procedure
Charge battery and store in a cool place (> 0 °C up
to < 10 °C).
If the battery is to remain in the machine, take off
negative terminal.
Check the state of charge regularly once a month.
Note. Re-charge at a voltage of <12.3 V at the
terminals of a 12 V battery (2.05 V/cell).
