1. Description
Hot gas station for connection to 230 Volt mains voltage. The hot air, infinitely variable (10 to
50 litres/minute) by electronic control, is produced by a turbine. The continuously adjustable
temperature (50° to 550° C) is controlled electronically by means of a resistance wire control
or optionally by an external sensor. The vacuum is generated by a reciprocating pump. The
hot air and vacuum is activated by means of a foot switch or a hand control panel. A stand-
by function to heat up the nozzle can be added. The housing of the appliance is coated with
a durable conductive paint socket. Requested potential balance can be obtained by a 3.5mm
jumper jack.

2. Initial operation

The handpiece is placed on the attached holder. The mains supply is established by means
of the enclosed mains cable connected up to the inlet connector for nonheating apparatuses
on the rear side of the appliance. The appliance is switched on by means of the power switch
on the front side of the appliance. Depending on the requested sequence of activation of air
and vacuum, the two-step foot switch is connected up to the connection sockets 1 or 2 on
the rear side of the appliance. The slide switch has to be set to 1.

As an optional feature, it is possible to operate one foot switch each for air and vacuum. In
this case the slide switch is set to 2 which causes the second switching step to be switched
off on both connection sockets. The hand control panel available as an accessory can be

and can be operated simultaneously.
The air volume can be set on adjusting knob "Air" continuously from 10 to 50 litres per
minute. The requested air temperature is set on the adjusting knob "Temperature", which
can be selected continuously in a range from 50° to 550°C. The temperature is controlled by
means of a resistance wire, and the tolerance of the air temperature is ± 30°K. In addition,
the temperature can be controlled by means of an external sensor (located directly on the
component, for example). The tolerance for control by means of sensor (0.5mm sheathed
thermocouple) is ± 15°K (sensor not included). The system is switched over to the external
sensor automatically, when the jack plug is connected. For the protection of the heating, the
resistance wire control remains active parallel at a flow temperature of 50°K. The operating
temperature is reached after a short period of time already, whereby the heating-up time
depends considerably on the amount of air and the size of the nozzle. The red LED indicates
the heating phase.
In order to prevent damage and overheating, the heating is switched on in conjunction with
the air supply only. In order to permit the nozzle to be heated up or kept warm, the appliance
has a stand-by function. By switching this function on with the slide switch on the front side
of the appliance, 7 litres of hot air are continuously blown through the nozzle at the temperature
set. After actuating the foot switch or the hand control panel,
the air amount is increased to the value set.
The heating element is potential-free and all-insulated. If equipotential bonding is required,
it can be established by connecting the workplace potential to the socket "Equipotential
bonding" (cf. paragraph "Equipotential bonding").
The vacuum required to lift off the SMD is generated by a reciprocating pump in the appliance.
The activation is effected by means of the foot switch or the hand control panel.

3. Maintenance instructions

Filter 005 87 117 00 for the vacuum is soiled by the flux residue and dirt particles, and hence
has to be replaced when the suction capacity decreases.
If required, the handpiece of WHA 2000 can be replaced. For this purpose the appliance has
to be de-energised. Remove the four attachment screws on the connection socket of the
station, and pull off the connecting cables. Undo the adjustment PCB and the strain relief
device on the connecting socket. After having removed the screw connection, pull out the
handpiece connection with the adjusting PCB. The replacement handpiece is installed in
reverse order. Do not change the adjustment!
