2.5 Installation of Line Compensator
Notes
Refer to general information as well as safety notes in Section 1.
The line compensator and mounting bracket for the line compensator are not included in the installation kit and,
after consulting the customer, must be ordered separately in accordance with the electronic parts catalogue (EPC).
When the line compensator is installed in the vehicle, it will only be possible to operate the mobile phone with the
ignition key turned to position 1 (terminal R) as the signal TEL EIN is simulated at the line compensator by ignition key
position 1.
Preparation
Release seat belt at right-hand B-pillar.
Remove B-pillar trim panel on right.
Remove trim panel for amplifier/CD changer in luggage compartment (if fitted)
Remove trim panel for subwoofer in luggage compartment (if fitted)
Remove roller blind/netted blind
Remove first-aid cushion
Release partition trim panel, luggage compartment left and behind oddments box
Remove partition trim panel, luggage compartment right
Remove mount for roller blind
Remove top shoulder, luggage compartment rear right
Remove top shoulder, luggage compartment front right
Remove front and rear carpet inlay in luggage compartment
Remove trim panel at rear right of luggage compartment
Remove oddments tray, rear right in luggage compartment
Remove lashing lug on right of luggage compartment
Remove trim panel on front right in luggage compartment

Align line compensator (11) on mounting bracket for line compensator (14) and mark holes (52) with
water-soluble pen.
Remove line compensator (11) and drill holes (52) with 5.5 mm dia. twist drill.
Deburr holes (52) and firmly secure line compensator (11) on mounting bracket for line compensator (14) with two
M5x14 hexagon screws and washers (21) and two M5 hexagon screws and washers (20).

Release tied-back plug connector X1765, 53, 54) from telephone wiring harness (30) behind the insulating mat
on right in luggage compartment.
Connect existing plug connector for line compensator X1765, black 3-pin socket housing, from telephone wiring
harness to black 3-pin pin housing (55) of line compensator (11).
Unscrew antenna lead at existing threaded coupling (56) and connect as follows:
Screw existing coaxial socket housing (53) of antenna lead together with coaxial pin housing (57)
at line compensator (11).
Screw existing coaxial pin housing (54) of antenna lead together with coaxial socket housing (58)
at line compensator (11).

Firmly secure mounting bracket for line compensator (14) with two WAF10 plastic nuts (22) on existing
mounting pin (59).
Tie back connection cable and antenna leads with cable straps (26).
