For all voltages
(See page 13)
The supply cable (min. cable rating: armoured
flexible 1 mm conductors) is connected to the
motor terminals.
A suitable cable clamp should be fitted.
The Electric Motor
The motor is a totally enclosed, fan-cooled
three-phase squirrel cage, class B minimum
insulation with working ambient temperature of
40°C.
The terminal box is provided with four (19mm
diameter) "KNOCK-OUTS".
It is possible to connect the electrical
supply to the motor causing it to
operate in anti-clockwise rotation.
This is required if using a left
leadscreew (refer to motor rotation
test).
Motor rotation test
Do not run the motor in an explosive
atmosphere.
The motor should run clockwise (viewed on
motor shaft) for standard right hand threads,
anti-clockwise for lefthand threads.
● Remove the motor from the pulley housing
(using exploded view).
● Clamp the motor to a suitable bench.
● Connect the electrical supplies to the motor.
● Fit the terminal cover.
● Switch on the power and press the Inch
Forward button, the motor should turn
clockwise.
● If the rotation is anti-clockwise, switch off the
power supply and interchange the wires to
terminals U1 and V1 on the motor.
● Fit the terminal cover, switch on the power,
press the Inch Forward button and check,
that the rotation is now clockwise.
● Switch off the power supply and re-assemble
the motor to the tool (using exploded view).

Position for SW1 proximity switch, using
sleeve on extension tube.
Detects a signal when the tool is at the datum
position.

Position for SW2 proximity switch, detects a
signal when the tool has reached depth.
This control block is used to control the tool
remotely. Figure 2 details the signal originations.
Proximity Switches
(See page 13)
Ensure that the electrical supply is
isolated from the control box before
connecting the proximity switch
wiring.
Should the switches need to be reset, reset as
follows:
● Ensure the auto feed unit is in the datum/rest
position.
● Gently rotate SW1 and SW3 proximity-
switches clockwise until a hardstop is felt and
then rotate anti-clockwise approximately one
turn.
● If SW3 is registering that it is sensing (by
LED's illuminating on proximity-switch and
cable) turn until illumination has stopped.
● For SW2 advance the tool using the Inch
Forward button and stop sensing area of the
stroke adjusting screw apposite the SW2
position.
● Then proceed as above.
● When completed, use the inch reverse button
to return to the datum/rest position.
SW3 detects 'no hole' and may be activated if a
large thrust is needed in tapping.
To overcome this, return tool to datum position
