6 - BEFORE USE
A rescue plan and risk assessment must be established to deal with any
emergency that may occur and allow for the fastest possible evacuation under
the best possible conditions.
Actions before first use:
• Complete the identification form by copying the marking information (see
part IV). It is your responsibility to make sure that this file is updated and
archived. If nothing is written on the identification file, the product must be
considered as not having been maintained and no guarantee will be given by
the manufacturer.
• Fill the inspection label on the product (date of first use + 1 year) (see part III -
label Q).
Actions before every use, check:
• Integrity of the PPE, and the integrity of any other equipment that may be
associated with it.
• The date of the next periodic inspection is not overdue. (see part III - label Q and
part V).
• The instructions for use of the equipment used with this product must be
correctly followed.
• All parts of the system are not damaged and are in good condition.
• The carabiners are provided with the lock function and lock correctly.
• All screws, closing rivets and pins are present and suitably fixed.
• There is no corrosion on the metallic parts. White scaling or tarnishing is
acceptable if it does not affect the function of the devices.
• All pulleys are rotating freely.
• In case of use in combination with Miller MightEvac, check that the braking
function of the Self-Retracting Lifeline with Emergency Retrieval Hoist is
working correctly. This can be verified by giving a quick tug on the cable, which
must stop instantly (see Miller MightEvac manual).
• The product markings are legible.
• In case of use in combination with DuraHoist Winch, check that this device is
working properly (see DuraHoist Winch manual).
If your product is damaged, do not use it and contact the manufacturer or its
representative. If you have any doubts regarding the safety of a product or if the
product has been used to arrest a fall, it is necessary for your safety that the PPE is
withdrawn from service and returned to the manufacturer or an authorized service
center for inspection or disposal. Regarding other PPE equipment of the portable
anchor device, always refer to their user instructions.
Before further use of this PPE, it is your responsibility to obtain a written certificate
from your repairer authorizing you to resume using the product. Otherwise, we
assume no liability in the event of the product malfunctioning.
