3.5.1 Automatic modes (SL, N, V, SC)
For various chucks, the necessary parameters such as power and time are pre-loaded in the SG1.
Depending on the configuration of the SG1, in the automatic modes, the diameters of the chucks are
shown for selection as the clamping diameter.
The heating parameters are automatically set to match the selected chuck type (SL, N, V, SC) and tool

diameter.
After the SG1 is switched on, the unit is set to the operating mode which was set when was last switched
off.
Changing the mode (see "LED indicator for operating mode and mode change", page 38).
Pressing the START/STOP starts the heating process. In the automatic modes the heating process is

ended automatically.
3.5.2 Manual mode
Manual mode is used for shrink fitting into other chucks.
Selecting manual mode (see "LED indicator for operating mode and mode change", page 38).

The SG1 is now in manual mode. The numeric display shows the heater power setting. 100 % is
represented by the number "99".
Use the + and – buttons on the right hand side of the control panel to select the heater power
setting between 0 % and 100 %.
Pressing the START/STOP starts the heating process. In this operating mode the heating stops when

Work procedures
A screen which encloses the coil, largely prevents stray magnetic fields. The controller and the high-fre-

quency generator are incorporated in the casing. A single size of coil is used for all clamping diameters. All
cables to the movable coil are screened.
The operator manually lowers the weight-compensated coil on to the chuck, and moves it upwards again
after the shrink fitting time has elapsed. After this he immediately places the heated chuck in the cooler, so
as to prevent the tool being heated up.

Risk of burns!
Because of the temperatures necessary for shrink-fitting, move the chuck until
it is cooled only in the appropriate tool base holder and always wear safety
gloves when handling it. When grasping chucks, grip them only at the collar,
not at the heated zone; and always wear gloves! Even when wearing safety
gloves, do not exceed the maximum gripping time of 5 seconds!
Risk of injuries to the eyes!
To protect the eyes against hot or flying particles, wear safety glasses!
