Instructions for Use and Maintenance
WARNING!
The Turbovisor is for protection from dusts, fumes and water based
aerosols (particulate matter only). DO NOT USE against gases or
vapours or in atmospheres deficient in oxygen (less than 17% by
volume). In areas with explosive atmospheres, use intrinsically safe
Turbovisor. At very high levels of physical work, the peak breathing
requirement may exceed the supplied volume of air. If malfunction
is suspected, retreat from hazard area. Do not raise visor in the
contamination area. Use only Sperian spare parts for replacement.
Read all the instructions before use. Do not enter the hazardous
area until all checks before use have been carried out and the
Turbovisor is correctly fitted and switched on. The Turbovisor offers
no respiratory protection whilst turned off.
Checks before use
Air Flow Check - Remove the prefilter (8). Switch battery unit on
to operate motor power unit and locate air flow test disc (9) over
air inlet to the motor unit. Turn Turbovisor on to it's side so that the
air flow test disc is facing downwards. If test disc does not stay in
place, replace main filter and re-test the unit. Once completed, refit
the prefilter before use. Carry out air flow check more frequently in
heavily contaminated environments.
Other Checks - Check main visor (2), lead (7), connectors and in
particular, the face skirt ((4) for MV models), are undamaged and
fixed securely. For a new unit, or one which has not been used
for three months or more, charge the battery pack (12) or (13) for
24hours, thereafter, charge for 14hours.
Donning of Equipment
Clip battery (13) to belt or check battery (12) is secured to the
headband as appropriate. Check the lead runs directly to motor
power unit with NO LOOPS to prevent snagging when in use and
ensure the plug is firmly in the socket. Place Turbovisor on the head,
keeping the visor (2) locked in the raised position. Adjust ratchet
