4.3 Refilling the oil reservoir

First unscrew the reservoir from the oil injection set. This can be done even when the
injector is under pressure.
To fill the oil reservoir, immerse the nozzle in oil and retract the piston by the handle.
This way the oil will be sucked into the reservoir. To allow any air to escape, point the
nozzle upwards and depress the valve ball slightly. Reattach the oil reservoir to the
injection set.

4.4 Oil cleanliness and leakage

Keep the injection set clean. Dirt and metal particles in the oil can cause wear of the
piston mating surfaces; leading to excessive oil leakage and permanent damage to
the oil injector.
The recommended oil cleanliness level should meet or exceed ISO 4406:1999 20/18/15.
Using fluids, other than oils or SKF mounting and dismounting fluids, can cause corrosion
and/or damage to the piston mating surfaces. Do not mix fluids or oils of different brands.
A small amount of oil leakage between the piston mating surfaces is expected at high oil
pressures. This small leakage helps ensure that the piston is kept lubricated.

4.5 Accessories

SKF Mounting Fluid LHMF 300
SKF LHMF 300 mounting fluid is recommended when mounting shrink fitted components,
using the SKF oil injection method.
The mounting fluid has a viscosity of 300 mm /s at 20 °C, and is recommended for

use at ambient temperatures between 18 °C and 25 °C. The fluid contains anticorrosion
additives.
SKF Dismounting Fluid LHDF 900
SKF LHDF 900 dismounting fluid is recommended when dismounting shrink-fitted
components using the SKF oil injection method.
The dismounting fluid has a viscosity of 900 mm /s at 20 °C, and is recommended

for use at ambient temperatures between 18 °C and 25 °C. The fluid contains
anticorrosion additives. Due to the high viscosity of the fluid it might be necessary to
operate the pump slowly.
