* Supplied in same box as ICM
** Flange screws, self tapping, and servo screws, M5,
supplied in same bag.
NOTE! Retaining nuts and bolts for the interceptor are
not included in this kit
NOTE! If the transom is made of aluminum other fasteners
may be required e.g. nuts, machine screws and washers.
IMPORTANT! Only M8 A4 (ASTM 316-GRADE)
Allen head bolts may be used.
General information
The area surrounding the servo shaft must be flat and
smooth inboard and out to ensure a seal against the pre-
installed O-ring.
The interceptor units must be installed on the transom lo-
cated close to the chine and close to the bottom of the
boat for best effect. The amount of space available in the
engine compartment governs servo shaft location.
The servo shaft is pre-installed and the two interceptor
units in the kit are handed. Plan to locate the servo shaft
as close as possible to the chine. Refer to figure N.
If the inner shaft location is more suitable, switch inter-
ceptor unit locations.
NOTE! Switching shaft positions
In exceptional cases the shafts pre-installed position on
the interceptor unit may be switched to the other side if
one of the servos does not have enough space in the
engine compartment.
If neither of the servos has enough space, switch the
interceptor units instead.
Carefully follow the instructions on the last page of this
document.
Guidelines for installation planning: A to O.
A. Dotted lines refer to load area and clearance for the
servo. The hull must be of uniform thickness and parallel
within the area.
B. The hull area must be of uniform thickness and flat in
Position on
and around the planned location so that the shaft nut
poster
abuts a flat surface.
-
-
C. Reinforce porous materials. Leave clearance for the
-
servo to avoid mechanical interference.
-
-
D. If there is insufficient space for the servo unit despite
-
compliance with the guidelines, a recess may be made in
-
the hull.
a
Treat the surface with a waterproof coating.
b
IMPORTANT! Good drainage and ventilation is necessary

around the servo unit.
e
E. Check that there is room for the servo in the engine
-
-
compartment.
Aquamatic: make sure there is clearance for the exhaust
pipe anode.
F. The hull area intended for the planned interceptor loca-
tion must be flat to the nearest 1 mm in every direction re-
gardless of hull material. Due to system design, the flat-
ness requirement is a fixed value irrespective of model.
This ensures interceptor blade life and optimal system
performance.
G. For best results, location immediately above the lower
edge of the transom is recommended. The templates sup-
plied are designed to achieve this result. The risk of inter-
ceptors being damaged during transportation ashore is
minimized.
If necessary, the interceptor may be installed below the
line indicated. However, projection will impair system per-
formance.
The installation must be symmetrical and proceed from
the boat's centerline.
H-J. In quad interceptor installations a small space is rec-
ommended between the units so that the interceptor
blades do not collide or touch at maximum extension.
Therefore increase the area for the planned installation a
little to allow minor adjustments.
Maximum blade extension is 50 mm.
K. Check interceptor blade clearance against protruding
parts such as cheeks, reinforcements and chines.
Ensure service access.
L. Recommended maximum transom slope is 15°.
Transom angle affects system function and installation
can be more difficult if the transom is angled
forward. System performance is optimal at 0° slope.
M. Install the interceptor units in handed pairs:
one (or two pair) to port and one (or two pair) to starboard.
The system is not designed for central interceptor location.
N. Install the interceptor shaft close to the chine.
O. An installation plate is available as an option; it makes
certain installation procedures easier. However, the rec-
ommendations and requirements specified in this docu-
ment must always be complied with. Also refer to: Installa-
tion instructions: Mounting plate for Interceptor System IS.
NOTE! A mounting plate is necessary for commercial
installations regardless of the type of boat concerned.
