7.0 bATTERY GUIDELINES
these are best practices for use of the 3M™ clean-trace™ nG Luminometer battery to optimize the battery's charge capacity and its cycle life.
• Remove the battery when the 3M Clean-Trace NG Luminometer will not be used for an extended period.
• Fully charge the battery for at least 2 hours before using the 3M Clean-Trace NG Luminometer. This applies to both new batteries and replacement
batteries installed in 3M clean-trace nG Luminometers.
• In normal usage, the 3M NG3 NGLBP1 rechargeable Li-Ion battery provides up to eight hours of charge capacity. When the battery needs to be
charged, the battery status indicator displays no bars, identified below as Flat-10%. the battery does not need to be discharged to no bars before
recharging it. Partial charges are acceptable.
• The battery has an expected life span, and the battery ages every time it is charged and discharged. The battery gradually loses its charge
capacity as it ages and it won't hold a charge. therefore, as the battery ages, it provides incrementally less than eight hours of charge capacity.
• When storing the battery for more than a month, store it at 50% charge. The battery is at 20 - 49% charge when the battery icon has two bars
and at 50 - 74% charge when 3 bars are shown). Do not store a fully discharged battery because it may lose the ability to be recharged. Do not
store a fully charged battery because it may lose the ability to be recharged to full power.
• Do not immerse the 3M Clean-Trace NG Luminometer or the battery in any liquid or allow either to get wet.
• Do not carry the battery in pockets, purses/handbags or in other locations where it may contact metal objects.
• Do not expose the battery to direct sunlight or store the battery in direct sunlight or excessive heat (60°C [140°F] ) or in moist or caustic
environments.
• Do not strike or throw the battery or subject the battery to a physical shock.
• Do not pierce the battery case or break it open. Do not disassemble the battery.
• Keep the battery out of reach of children.
• Do not recharge the battery near a heat source or in extremely hot conditions (greater than 45°C).
• Do not use the battery if it gives off an odor, generates excessive heat, or becomes significantly discolored or deformed. Keep the battery away
from exposed flames if the battery leaks or emits an odor.
• Flush eyes with water and seek medical attention if the battery leaks and the battery fluid gets into the eyes.
We recommend routinely replacing the battery after two years of normal use, or if the battery has been misused in any of the ways described above,
or if the battery shows signs of overheating or its shape is distorted.

8.0 CARE OF THE 3M CLEAN-TRACE NG LUMINOMETER
8.01 Cleaning
the external surfaces of the instrument should be wiped clean with a damp cloth and then wiped dry.
8.02 Temperature
Avoid storing the instrument at temperatures below 4°C or above 40°C. If subjected to low temperatures, condensation may occur. The instrument
should be allowed to warm to room temperature before use and a cloth or tissue used to wipe dry the outer surfaces.
