Wiring Connections

3.2.1. Battery Cable Length
The battery connecting cable is 3m (10 ft.) long and is used to connect the battery to the
intrinsically safe terminal. The cable for the battery pack must not be lengthened.
The cable length may be shortened if required before installation. To prevent damage, the cable
must not be connected to the battery while it is being shortened. To shorten, simply cut the cable to
the desired length, reconnect the green wire to the shield then protect this connection with heat
shrink or electrical tape. Finally, strip the blue and clear wires to the required length per the terminal
installation manual.
3.2.2. Connection to the Terminal
The blue battery cable from the intrinsically safe power supply must be connected to the terminal
that it will power. Refer to the installation manual of the specific terminal for details on making this
wiring connection. An example termination to the IND256x is shown in Figure 3-5.
3.2.3. Connecting to the Battery Pack
The Battery Pack provides a metal connector on the end of the housing so it can be easily
disconnected from the connecting cable and transported to a safe area to be charged. The battery
cable is connected to the battery by aligning the key of the cable connector with the slot in the
