Basic safety notes

Intended use

The Geberit Universal welding machine may only be used for surface planing and butt
welding Geberit PE and Geberit Silent‑db20 pipes and fittings d40–315.
The Geberit welding machines may only be combined with the Geberit electric or hand-
operated plane and with the Geberit welding plate.
Any other use or a use extending beyond this is deemed to be improper. Geberit will not
accept any liability for any resulting damage.
Geberit welding machines may only be used in well-ventilated areas.

User qualifications

Without suitable training, users cannot detect or may incorrectly estimate the hazards
presented by welding machines. They are therefore at risk of seriously injuring themselves
or others.
• Only skilled persons qualified in pipe installations are permitted to use welding machines.
• Users must be conversant with and apply country-specific safety regulations.
• Users working with welding machines for the first time must have been instructed by an
expert in the safe handling of the welding machine or have attended a specialist course.

Following information and instructions

Failure to observe the safety notes and instructions can lead to injuries.
• Before commissioning, read through and take note of all safety notes and instructions in
the relevant manuals.
• When using additional electrical devices such as electric planes or welding plates, read
through and take note of the accompanying instructions.
• Retain all safety notes and instructions for future use.
• Follow the country-specific safety regulations.
