5. Fixing point

The fixing or anchor point to which the equipment is attached must have a minimum strength of 10 kN (1t).
Special fixing points must comply with DIN EN 795. Load-bearing parts of structures, central columns of
safety ladders etc. can for instance be used as secure fixing points. Fixing to rungs of ladders, heating pipes
etc. is not permitted.
The loading capacity and the position of the fixing point are critical for safety. The position of the fixing
point should therefore always be chosen so that the rope does not run over edges and does not run past
sharp-edged objects or rough wall surfaces during the abseiling operation. If sufficient distance cannot be
maintained, suitable edge protection must be used.
The rescue device must only be fixed to the anchor point using the attachment eyelet.
Use of adapters and other attachments which are not genuine SKYLOTEC accessories is
not permitted.
It is vital that the attachment eyelet is always securely connected to the fixing point.
This can be achieved by using:
• connecting devices in accordance with EN 354
• holding ropes in accordance with EN 358
• connecting elements (karabiners) in accordance with EN 362 or
• slings and fixing devices in accordance with EN 795.
The instructions for use for the additional equipment used must be followed!
