eration, provided the manual input of these data is en-
abled in the configuration menu.
• The heating element is inserted after cleaning it and
checking its temperature.
• After the heating element was inserted, the pipes close
in automatically on it at the predefined build-up pres-
sure.
• During the build-up stage the bead at the joint builds
up. When the bead size, as required under the select-
ed standard, is achieved, the welder has to confirm suc-
cessful bead build-up. (If Automode (see Section 4.1) is
enabled, the successful bead build-up is detected auto-
matically; the system computes the build-up time de-
pending on the parameters of the parts to be jointed.)
• The system then moves on automatically to the heating
stage.
• After the heating stage, the system automatically moves
the movable carriage apart and the welder has to re-
move the heating element from in-between the butts.
• After the removal of the heating element, the system
automatically closes the pipes in on each other.
• This is followed by a steady pressure increase until the
joining pressure is reached.
• The new joint then cools down at the predefined pres-
sure. If the selected weldind standard requires the pres-
sure to be reduced in the cooling stage, the system per-
forms this reduction automatically, in line with the pro-
visions in the standard.
• After the cooling time is over, the system shuts off the
pressure automatically, and the joint can be taken out
of the clamping chassis.
• If the optional tag printer is used, a tag to label the new
joint can be printed off.

Operation
To operate the welding system, be sure that it is set
on a proper, level surface and that power supply-
side fuse protection is as described in Sect. 3.4.
Important
Before the system is turned on, check the oil level
of the hydraulic and control unit and top up with
HF-E 15 hydraulic oil as needed.
Important
The surfaces of the heating element have to be free
of grease and clean, or they have to be cleaned.
Important
Make sure all connectors are tight in their sockets
and note that operation on a worksite is prohibited
if the power supply does not have earth-leakage cir-
Important
cuit breakers.
