2. Battery status indicator
The battery status indicator is formed of ten segments (three red, four yellow and three
green). It allows you to monitor the battery charge. The battery indicator indicates the
approximate quantity of the remaining charge.
• The red, yellow and green LEDs lit up together indicate that the battery is completely
charged.
• The red and yellow LEDs lit up together indicate that the battery needs charging as soon
as possible.
• The red LEDs lit up on their own indicate that the battery needs charging as soon
as possible, as it is almost flat. This could cause a loss of power in the wheelchair.
Note:
When the batteries start to discharge, the first red LED will start flashing slowing,
to remind you that the batteries need to be charged immediately.
B. USING THE ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIR
Before you get into your folding electric wheelchair, make sure you are on a flat surface with
no obstacles. Although your wheelchair is designed for use on slopes, it is safer to practise
using it on a flat surface.
Several checks to make before every use are indicated below:
• Check functioning of the horn
• Check that the tyres are in good condition
• Check the battery charge status of your wheelchair
• The motor unlocking levers must be in position D (DRIVE).
• It is recommended to select a low speed for the first few times you use it.
Follow these steps for use of the electric wheelchair:
1. Sit on your wheelchair and press the ON/OFF button. All the LED indicator lights of the
battery charger must be lit up. The control and self-diagnosis lights must not be flashing.
2. Rest your forearm firmly on the armrest and place your hand on the controller.
After switching on the wheelchair, wait two seconds before activating the joystick.
This is a safety feature to prevent sudden start-ups.
3. The joystick central lever controls all movements of the wheelchair. If you move the
joystick forwards, the wheelchair moves forwards. If you move the joystick backwards,
the wheelchair moves backwards. If you move the joystick to the left, the wheelchair
moves to the left. If you move the joystick to the right, the wheelchair moves to the right.
When you release the joystick in the vertical or central position, the automatic brake
is activated and the wheelchair stops automatically. The joystick also operates as
an accelerator. The further you push the lever, the faster your wheelchair will move.
The speed depends on the position of the speed control button.
4. Move the joystick central lever gently, applying stable and controlled pressure.
5. In an emergency, release the joystick central lever and the wheelchair will stop
automatically.
6. Never drive at a speed beyond your ability to control the wheelchair.
7. Practise driving in a place where there are no obstacles. Start at the lowest speed and
move forwards and backwards. Do this several times. When you feel secure, increase the
speed gradually by pressing the speed button.
8. The number of LEDs lit up on the speed control indicator identifies the level of speed set.
9. If the battery charge indicator only has two LEDs lit up, the batteries must be charged as
soon as possible.
