GENERAL CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Brass, similar to silver, will oxidise naturally in air over
time. Humid conditions and moisture will accelerate
the process of oxidisation. We believe the patina and
ageing process adds beauty and richness to the product.
Brass is a soft, malleable alloy metal and should
always be treated with care. As the product is used, it
will display marks such as scratches, tarnishing and
dents; this is normal and to be expected. Salts and oils
from skin may also mark the metal surface.
The product has been polished and treated with a wax
coat to protect from marks and moisture during the
transit and installation process. This treatment will
o er some protection against ngerprints and certain
liquid spills in the rst few weeks of use. Any spills or
marks should be immediately cleaned, as per the
instructions on the following pages. The wax coat will
disappear over time, allowing the brass to patina
naturally with use, as is the intention.
Always shield the soft brass surface from anything
that might scratch or dent it as these types of usage
marks are di cult to polish or remove entirely. We
advise always using protective mats or coasters,
particularly with hot dishes, cups and glasses.
If you wish to return your product to a polished brass
nish you can do so by following the 'Re-polishing and
removing heavy stains' guide. This process works best
when used on an entire surface (e.g. the table top
surface), as spot/patch cleaning in this way can lead
to areas with di erent appearances. Polishing the
surface to its original nish may reduce the appearance
of deep scratches or dents, although these marks are
unlikely to be completely removed.
WARNING
Do not use any abrasive cleaning agents on this product.
Clean regularly with a soft, thick-pile, micro bre
cloth that is free of chemicals and waxes. Use this
cloth to dry bu
nger marks and other light stains
from the surface. Marks left for some time will be
harder to remove. For some stains, a soft rag and a
little warm water with liquid soap can be used. Dry
bu ng the surface immediately after cleaning with
liquid is essential to avoid visible streaks on the
surface.

CLEANING FINGER MARKS AND LIGHT STAINS
Step 01 - Regular use will mean that marks caused by
skin, for example,
appear on the surface.
Step 02 - These marks can be bu ed out of the surface
if not left for too long. Use a soft, thick-pile, micro bre
cloth and dry bu out the stains in the direction of the
lines on the surface. Do not use a circular motion.
Step 03 - Regular dry bu ng with a soft, thick-pile,
micro bre cloth with help keep the surface clean.
Some patination is to be expected due to the nature of
the brass.
CLEANING LIQUID SPILLS AND HEAVIER STAINS
Step 01 - Liquid and other spills should be cleaned as
soon as possible. If they cannot be removed by the
previous method, they can be cleaned with a little
warm water and a mild liquid soap.
Step 02 - Dampen the cloth with a small amount of
the mixture and rub the stain in the direction of the
lines
on the surface. Do not use a circular motion.
Step 03 - Dry bu
cloth with help avoid streaks in the surface. Some
patination is to be expected due to the nature of brass.
RE-POLISHING AND REMOVING HEAVY STAINS
Step 01 - For stains that cannot be removed with the
previous steps; stains that have bee n left for long
time; or if you would like to re-polish a surface to the
product's original nish, you will need to use an appro-
priate metal polish. We reccomend Autosol, which is
readily available online.
Step 02 - Ensure the surface is thoroughly clean, using
water and a mild liquid soap. Allow to fully dry, and
bu
out any water marks using a soft, thick-pile
micro- bre cloth.
Step 03 - Use a small amount of the polish on a cotton
cloth and rub in the direction of the lines on the
surface. Do not use a circular motion. It's best to do
this is sections, adding more polish to the cloth as you go.
Step 04 - Some polish will remain in between the small
gaps between the brass sections. This can be removed
with a soft bristled brush and should be removed
before polishing.
Step 05 - When the surface has been entirely polished,
with all excess polished remved from the gaps, dry bu
with a soft, thick-pile, micro bre cloth in the direction
of the lines on the surface. Do not use a circular
motion.
