Bendix 10 Pressure Port Testing
Various ABS malfunctions of a Bendix 10 ABS unit will set off codes or the warning lights (red or
amber) on a vehicle's dash When is occurs follow the outlined diagnostic procedure found in the
vehicle's user manual for the specific code or fault indicated. When required by the instructions in the
ABS technicians manual to perform a pressure check using the outlet port of the Bendix 10 unit. the
following instruction will enable the gauge set of the ABS & Brake Test Kit to be used. (Applications:
various Chrysler vehicles from 1990-93)
Procedure
1. After depressurizing the accumulator, use a 11mm box end wrench to remove the plug from the
side of the Bendix 10 ABS unit, After removing the plug, check the O-ring on the plug, if it is
damaged, obtain a new O-ring before reinstalling the plug.
2. Install a 09 adapter into the opening where you removed the plug, Tighten the adaptor with a
11mm box end wrench.
3. Check me bleeder valve located just below the gauge head. Be sure that it is closed. Use a box
end wrench to tighten and to check the tightness of this valve.
4. Install the pressure gauge on to the adapter that you installed into the side of the Bendix 10 unit.
5. Proceed with the pressure checks and tests as instructed by the ABS technicians manual.
6. Remove the gauge from the adapter and then remove the adapter from the outlet checking port.
7. After completing me required pressure checks, again depressurize the system. Start by turning
the ignition key off and removing it from the ignition switch. Pump the brake pedal 40 times to
relieve pressure in the system.
8. Check and add brake fluid as necessary to bring the system to the correct level.
9. Reinstall and tighten the test port plug; making sure the 0-ring is in good condition before
installing the plug.
