Before first use
• Read operating and safety instructions carefully!
• Check voltage in your home (has to correspond with
information at the bottom of the coffee-maker).
• Insert plug of the base; to extend or shorten the cord
use the winding below the bottom of base
• Clean the kettle before first use by boiling 2 times

with maximum water capacity.
Usage of the electric kettle
1. Open the lid by pressing the button
removable.
2. Fill in needed amount of water. The water amount is
readable on the water level scale on right and left side
of the handle .
• Do not fill the kettle beyond the maximum capacity
(see marking).
• Do not put kettle into operation without water. Fill it
at least to the "Min." marking.
3. After filling close lid by pressing it downwards
4. Place kettle on the base.
5. Switch on the appliance
shows that appliance is in progress.
6. After having reached the boiling point the appliances
switches off automatically.
7. Operating can be stopped anytime – use either On/Off
switch or lift the kettle from the base.
As soon as water is boiling big bubbles - resulting from
the rising steam - are visible through the windows. Water
has its maximal temperature now. But as any electric kett-
le this appliance needs according to construction some
time before steam switches off the appliance automatical-
ly. To save energy you can switch off the appliance manual
when steam bubbles appear.
Dry boil protection
The heater is equipped with an overheating protector.
Should you switch on the appliance accidentally without
water or if water is completely exhaled (e.g. if lid is not
closed) the dry boil protection switches off automatically.
In this case leave appliance to cool down before use it
again.
Lime filter
The lime filter in spout area keeps back lime particles
while pouring. For cleaning the lime filter: pull it upwards
out of the kettle .
Cleaning and maintenance
Before cleaning always remove plug from socket!
Cleaning
Use a soft damp cloth and washing-up liquid to clean the
exterior. Clean appliance and cord never under flowing
water or immerse in water. Do not use acrid or abrasive
detergents.

Descaling
Lime disposal in appliance is not avoidable. Only
regularly descaling ensures perfect operation of your
electric kettle. Please descale as soon as a visible lime
coating has built up on the warming plate of the
kettle. Use Melitta AntiCalc or another adequate desca-
®
ling product. Use the descaler following the instructions
of the supplier of the descaler on the package.
Important:
Execute necessarily 2 – 3 boiling cycles after descaling to
clean the appliance.
