10. Startup and venting
CAUTION

- The product is only to be use with
rainwater or grey wastewater.
When the tank has been installed with all
connections and the pump has been mounted,
proceed as follows:
1. Remove the tank cover.
2. Pour water into the tank until the pump starts.*
3. Move the pump gently from side to side until it
starts delivering water.
4. Fit the cover to the tank.
To avoid obnoxious smells, it is
recommended to pour water into the water
seal of the drain grating.

If the pump does not start, check that the lever
arm and the level switch have been fitted
correctly and can move freely. See also section
"Fault Finding Chart" in the installation and
operating instructions for the pump.
11. Servicing the product
If the product is stored for winter, make
sure to empty the tank, or take antifreeze
precautions.

- Switch off the power supply before you
start any work on the product.
- Make sure that the power cannot be
switched on accidentally.

- The product will be classified as
contaminated if it has been used for a
liquid which is injurious to health or
toxic.
- Wear personal protective equipment.
Liftaway B 40-1 with a Unilift KP or AP pump is
practically maintenance-free. However, regular
checks and cleaning will ensure faultless operation
and a long operating life.
To prevent unnecessary pumping, it should be
checked that the connected units are tight.

Cleaning the tank
For systems which are used very rarely, occasional
internal cleaning is recommended.

After cleaning the units connected, flush the Liftaway
once more with clean water.
12. Disposing of the product
This product or parts of it must be disposed of in an
environmentally sound way:
1. Use the public or private waste collection service.
2. If this is not possible, contact the nearest
Grundfos company or service workshop.
The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on
a product means that it must be
disposed of separately from household
waste. When a product marked with this
symbol reaches its end of life, take it to a
collection point designated by the local
waste disposal authorities. The separate collection
and recycling of such products will help protect the
environment and human health.
