LIGHTS CABLE INSTALLATION
The installation or replacement of the lights cable on Gain
Carbon requires the removal and installation of the fork.
Remove the fork off the bicycle and the headset to access
the connection between the lights cable and the battery
cable through the head tube.
Removing and installing the fork and the headset requires
advanced mechanical skills and may therefore be beyond
the knowledge of most users.
To replace the lights cable on Gain Carbon, take your
bike to an authorized Orbea dealer. Read the Lights sec-
tions of this manual to know about the routing of the
lights cable inside the frame.
REPLACING THE X35 INTERNAL BATTERY
Replacing the X35 internal battery is a process that
requires advanced mechanical knowledge for its correct
installation.
The bicycle fork, chainset and bottom bracket need to
be removed and all the pedelec system components
disconnected.

Replacing the X35 internal battery is a process that must
be performed by an authorized Orbea dealer.
The X35 internal battery on your Orbea bicycle carries
all the relevant information about your bike, such as the

feature two threaded holes on their side for
installation on 2021 Gain frames, besides the
three holes on its bottom side for installation
on pre2021 Gain frames.
Batteries from MY2021 are compatible with
pre2021 Gain, Optima and eMX24 frames.
However, pre2021 batteries are not compati-
ble with MY2021 and onwards frames.

From Model Year 2020, all Orbea ebikes equipped with a
MAHLE Ebikemotion® X35 system do have ANT+ connec-
tivity from the factory, which allows for the visualization of
the X35 system data on compatible head units, such as the

X35 ERRORS DISPLAY
Ebikemotion® X35 system can be displayed on the com-
patible head units. If the system has recovered from a
previous error, this can also be displayed in the head unit.
· ERRORS IN THE X35 SYSTEM: If there is an error code
in the system, this will be shown in the head unit by
the generic error code E255. All system error codes
be shown by the code E255 in the head unit. Connect
the X35 system to the MAHLE Ebikemotion® X35 mo-
bile apps (User or Dealer app) to access the system´s
error code when there is an error in the system.
· E If the system has
recovered from an error, this will be shown in the com-
patible head unit by the generic code E000 when the
system is switched on and paired with the display. The
E000 code will disappear after a few seconds. The sys-
tem has no errors.
