• The Air Flow Indicator is graduated into different 'zones' based on air density, which is based on elevation and ambient temperature. To
determine your zone, determine the elevation and temperature for the environment where you are conducting the airflow check. See your
supervisor if you are not certain of these values. Find the zone where your elevation and temperature intersect on the chart supplied with the
Air Flow Indicator (Chart 1). For additional guidance on conducting an airflow check, consult 3M Technical Data Bulletin #221 - Conducting
Airflow Check on the TR-600, or contact 3M Technical Service.

Chart 1 – Determining Air Flow Indicator zone based on elevation and temperature. Recommended use temperature range: 23°F to 131°F
(-5°C to 55°C). Recommended elevation: -328 feet to 16404 feet (-100 meters to 5000 meters). Contact 3M Technical Service if intended use
may be outside of these ranges.
Facepiece to Breathing Tube Assembly
1. Align the two branches of the breathing tube over the two bayonet mounts on the facepiece. Ensure the one small slot on the breathing tube
bayonet aligns with the one small lug on the facepiece bayonet mount.
Note: The bayonet connectors of the BT-60 Series Breathing Tubes are identical, and can be used on either bayonet mount on the facepiece.
2. Twist each branch of the breathing tube clockwise a quarter turn until it meets the internal stop and is firmly seated on the bayonet. Do not forcibly
overturn, as the bayonet could be damaged (Fig. 5-6 for half-facepiece, Fig. 7-8 for full-facepiece).
