The broken pieces of spring may
still be under tension and can
spring apart unexpectedly on
removal from the housing – risk of
injury! Wear face shield and
protective gloves
Carefully remove broken pieces of
N
spring
Apply a few drops of non-resinous
N
oil to the new replacement spring
Position the replacement spring
N
with frame in the fan housing – the
anchor loop must be located over
the retaining lug in the fan housing
Apply suitable tools (screwdriver,
N
punch, etc.) to the recesses and
push the spring into its seat in the
fan cover – the spring slides out of
the frame
Remove the frame from the fan
N
housing

Storing the Machine
For periods of 3 months or longer
Drain and clean the fuel tank in a
N
well ventilated area.
Dispose of fuel properly in
N
accordance with local
environmental requirements.
Run the engine until the carburetor
N
is dry – this helps prevent the
carburetor diaphragms sticking
together.
Remove the saw chain and guide
N
bar, clean them and spray with
corrosion inhibiting oil.
Thoroughly clean the machine –
N
pay special attention to the cylinder
fins and air filter.
If you use a biological chain and bar
N
lubricant, e.g. STIHL BioPlus,
completely fill the chain oil tank.
Store the machine in a dry, high or
N
locked location, out of the reach of
children and other unauthorized
persons.
