4. DRILLING
4.1) Preparing the drilling machine
Remove drilling machine, detachable guard and
auger from storage case.
Stop the engine before removing the auger
4.1.1) Fitting and removing the auger (See Fig. 1)
Select the auger suitable for the work to be done:
– Turn the emergency lever (12) and fully insert the auger.
– Release the emergency lever.
– Manually rotate the auger until a click is heard, indicating automatic locking.
To remove the auger: turn the emergency lever, manually rotate and remove the auger from the spindle.
4.1.2) Assemble the guard PRM-U (See Fig. 1)
To fi t the detachable guard PRM-U (21), complete with end piece (32), proceed as follows:
– Unscrew the guard knob (22) from each shaft (24).
– Slide the shafts (24) into the brass bushes on the detachable guard (21): until they protrude suf-
fi ciently, to enable the guard nuts (22) to be fi tted.
Tighten the guard nuts (22) by hand.
The SD-15P-ECO drill is supplied complete with TPM 200-26 end piece; should it need to be replaced,
simply unscrew it by hand and screw on the new end piece suitable for the centring required.
Slide the guard bushes onto the shafts then screw a guard knob onto each one.
4.1.3) Setting the hole depth (See Fig. 1)
Open the lever and loosen the adjuster (26).
Position the adjuster to the desired depth on the graduated scale. Tighten the adjuster and close
the lever (23).
During the drilling operation, the adjuster butts against the detachable guard at the preset hole
depth to prevent any further travel of the auger.
4.2) Using the drilling machine
The drilling machine can be used independently or in conjunction with the support trolley:

With the drilling machine on the ground follow the instructions in § 7.
Allow the machine to "warm up" for 2 minutes prior to commencement of work.
Locate the machine on the sleeper in the desired position, locate the guard end piece (32) into the
bush of the chair and proceed as § 4.3.
