3 Handling
INFORMATION
The daily duration of use and usage period are generally determined by
the physician. Initial fitting and application of the support/orthosis must
be performed by trained specialists. The patient must be instructed on
how to handle and care for the support/orthosis.

3.1 Selecting the size

1) Measure the waist circumference approx. 2 cm above the iliac crest.
2) Determine the orthosis size (see size table).

3.2 Fitting and Application

1) Fitting the metal rods (see Fig. 1): Remove the 2 metal rods from the
pockets and fit them to the spine individually. Put the metal rods back
in the pockets.
2) Application: Place the upper part of orthosis over the shoulders like a
backpack (see Fig. 2). Place the lower part of the orthosis around the
trunk. Place the fingers in the grip pockets of the abdominal closure.
Apply equal force to both sides to pull the support forward (see Fig.
3).
3) Hook and loop material: Attach the right part to the top of the left
part of the abdominal closure (see Fig. 4). Remove the fingers from
the left and then from the right grip pockets. Ensure that the hook and
loop material sections lie flat against each other and are not in contact
with clothing or skin. Route the ends of the shoulder strap to the front
around the chest (see Fig. 5) and secure the hook and loop closure
below the chest (see Fig. 6)
4) Increasing compression: Pull the ends of the elastic straps forward
(see Fig. 7) and attach them to the bottom closure (see Fig. 8).
5) Optional – install the pad (see Fig. 9): Use the hook and loop closure
to attach the pad to the inside of the orthosis so that it is at least 1 cm
above the seat surface when seated.
