Operating instructions for the detachable ball bar
Important!
Check the following points to ensure correct locking of the detachable ball bar before each journey:
• The linchpin (G) or a padlock has to be inserted into the secure hole (F) in the pin (E) and be folded or
locked respectively.
• The ball bar (A) has to be fully inserted into the receiver (B) and be tight. Check by shaking it.
• The handle (H) has to be engaged in the lock (L).
Repeat the installation procedure if any of the 3 checks is not satisfactory.
To avoid the risk of accidents the towing device should not be used if any of the requirements is not met.
Contact the manufacturer if this occurs.
The ball bar can be easily installed and removed with the normal force of your hands.
Never use any sort of aids or tools etc. as this might damage the mechanism.
Never unlock if trailers are attached or load bearing implements mounted!
Always remove the ball bar and insert the plug into the receiver for journeys without a trailer or load bearing
implement. This is especially important if the tow ball impedes sight of the vehicle's registration number or
lights.
Installation of the ball bar:
1.)
Remove the plug (C) from the receiver (B).
Insert the ball bar (A) into the receiver (B) making sure that the holes in the ball bar and receiver are
2.)
aligned.
3.)
Insert the pin (E) from the side through the hole (J), the receiver (B) and the ball bar (A) until the secure
hole (F) is visible. Now turn the pin (E) with the help of the handle (H) until the ball bar (A) sits free from
play in the receiver (B).
4.)
Now insert the linchpin (G) through the secure hole (F) and fold down the linchpin's ring, thus fixing the
linchpin in the hole.
A padlock can be used instead of the linchpin (G) as a theft prevention measure.
5.)
Pull the handle (H) until the limit stop in the direction of the arrow (K) (free-wheel) and simultaneously
rotate it in the direction of the lock (L). Now allow the handle (H) to engage in the lock (L), thus
preventing the handle (H) from rotating.
