Assembly of boom and stand
The delivered extension arm is mounted as follows (overview fig. 1):
• Insert extension arm (pos. 1) into flange
• Screw in the cylinder head screw (pos. 2)
• Firmly tighten cylinder head screw (pos. 2) using the A/f 4 right
angled screwdriver.
Vibrations may loosen the cylinder head screw. Therefore, for your
own safety, periodically check that the extension arm is secure. If
necessary, retighten the cylinder head screw.
To ensure safe operation the driving unit is fastened to the plate
stand R 1826 (pos. 8) by means of a cross sleeve (pos. 7).
In order to enhance the stability of the mechanical arrangement, the
driving unit has to be mounted as close as possible to the stand pillar.
Working with the unit
Assembling of the dispersion tool (overview fig. 1)
- Open the knurled screw (pos. 10) so that the thread does not
protrude into the hole.
- Insert the dispersing element (pos. 9) from the bottom into the
drive unit as far as the stop. Ensure that the dispersion tool is ali-
gned correctly when inserted (refer to picture: the tabs must
project sideways when viewed from the front of the drive
unit/dispersion tool). The shaft will audibly click into place when
a small amount of force is applied. The dispersion tool is correc-
tly mounted when the edge of the projecting part is aligned with
the lower edge of the drive unit (see fig. 5).
- Now secure the dispersing element by screwing the knurled
screw tight (pos. 10).

The filling level of the medium may not be less than about 55 mm.
The entire unit may also be arranged somewhat off centre in order
to avoid any undesired air admission caused by the strong rotatio-
nal turbulence.
The adjustment wheel (pos. 4) is set at the lowest speed before
the unit is switched on. The speed which is set may be read by
comparing the colors on the scale (pos. 4) and the adjustment
wheel.
By using the adjustment wheel (pos. 4) the speed may be infini-
tely varied to meet the requirements of the medium to be pro-
cessed. The no-load speed of the ULTRA-TURRAX
driving unit may be set between 3,500 and 24,000 rpm.
If these conditions are met the unit is
ready for service when the mains plug
has been plugged in.
The driving unit is switched on by means of the On/Off- switch
(pos. 6).
