3. Useful tips
- In the absence of electrical power for a few hours, during the incubation period, introduce into the
machine one or more hot water bottles filled with hot water and keep the door closed.
- For the eggs of the exotic animals is advised to give well attention in the humidification of the peat
or vermiculite, the same one should be neither too dry nor too humid, as excessive humidification
can give place to moulds that will be able to cause the death of embryo, while excessive dryness
could provoke a dehydration and consequently the death.
- In order to obviate the problems of bacteriological infections, the room, in which the machine will
be installed, will have to be in perfect state of hygiene and salubrity.
- We would like to point out that during incubation and especially during hatching, there are risks of
exposure to biological agents3. Therefore, we recommend that all operations related to incubation
and hatching be carried out using adequate precautions such as
- Specific personal protective devices (disposable latex gloves, respiratory protection masks,
disposable gowns with relative shoes) ;
- Periodic cleaning and disinfection of incubation areas;
- Careful washing of hands before and after contact with organic parts, with a gel soap with a broad
spectrum of biocidal action;
- Avoid eating and drinking in the incubators or during the operations of assistance to the machine.
- (These indications are fundamental to guarantee the protection of both eggs and operators)
- In order to avoid traumatic stress to the animals born because of the noises and the exposure to the
natural light, the best thing would be the birth of the animals in the dark and absolute calm.

In order to guarantee a perfect and long-lasting operation of the unit, please observe the following
provisions:
- Do not expose the unit to atmospheric agents;
- Do not use the machine in particularly hot, humid or cold environments
- Move and store the machine in such a way as to avoid shocks or falls that could damage its
operation;
- Before cleaning operations, disconnect the plug from the socket;
- Do not subject the power cable to tension when moving the unit;
IMPORTANT: disconnect the plug from the socket by acting on the plug and not on the power cable;
furthermore, do not use unsuitable and non-standard extension cords; For cleaning and disinfecting
operations, carefully follow the instructions on the next page.
How to clean the incubator
- To guarantee the essential hygiene during incubation, it is advisable to clean the machine before
and after use.
- Wipe the unit with a damp cloth and do not use volatile substances that may damage the surface of
the unit, and disinfect the unit using mild disinfectants such as alcohol.
- Clean also the bottom and wash the bowls with a sponge and a normal domestic detergent.
- NOTE: after each cleaning and disinfecting operation, keep the machine running (leave the door
ajar) for about two hours without any water in it, in order to eliminate the humidity accumulated
