Logical connection of the MAC address to the IP address

If the Ethernet/RS422-RS485 converter is connected to the Ethernet, the internally preset fix
MAC address must be connected to a fix IP address of the Ethernet. The network administrator
must assign a fix IP address to each Ethernet/RS422-RS485 converter. This IP address must
not change in the Ethernet and must not be assigned more than once.
The connection of the MAC address to the IP address must be carried out individually for each
Ethernet/RS422-RS485 converter. For this purpose the MS-DOS Command Prompt under
Windows is started on any computer connected to the Ethernet.
For Windows 2000 and NT:
For Windows 95, 98, ME:
The following command line establishes the logical connection of the Ethernet/RS422-RS485
converter's MAC address to the fix IP address assigned to it:
Q:\ >arp_-s_
command

Blanks are symbolized in the above example by underlined blanks.
The signs preceding the Command Prompt (Q:\>) vary in every network.
The preset fix MAC address of each Ethernet/RS422-RS485 converter is noted on the housing
of the converter.
If by this command this logical connection has been successfully transferred to the
Ethernet/RS422-RS485 converter, the latter can be reached from now on in the Ethernet using
its fix IP address.
Addressing the Ethernet/RS422-RS485 converter by its assigned IP address can be tested with
the following command after the MS-DOS Command Prompt:
