Check fuel level. Refuel if
necessary
(See engine manual)
Important notice:
Care should be taken not to shut
off the engine or to run out of
gasoline while feeding material
into the chipper shredder vacuum.
Check the fuel level periodically
to avoid running out of gasoline.
Do not turn the engine off until
all chipping is completed to avoid
jamming. If the unit runs out of
gas or is turned off while it is
chipping or shredding it may be
necessary to unclog the unit
before it can be restarted. Refer to
"Removing The Flail Screen" in
the MAINTENANCE section.

Start engine

(see also engine manual)
Engines with choke lever:
1. Move choke lever on engine to
CHOKE position (required
only when engine is cold).
Engines with primer:
2. Prime engine as described in
separate engine manual.
Engines without choke levers
3. The throttle control is located
on the engine. Move lever to
FAST position (rabbit)
4. Push Primer (if so equipped) 3
times strongly (when engine
is cold).
5. Standing behind the unit, pull
rope out slowly until engine
reaches start of compression
cycle and pull rope with a
rapid, continuous, full arm
stroke
Let rope rewind slowly
6.
Note:
You may hear a noise when
reaching the start of the
compression cycle. This noise is
caused by the shredding
mechanism You may hear the
noise as long as the impeller
reaches full speed.
1. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until
engine fires.
2. When engine starts, move
choke control (if so equipped)
gradually to RUN position
(rabbit).
To stop engine:
Do nor turn engine off until all
chipping e.g. residual wood etc. is
complete
1. move throttle control lever to
OFF position.
2. Wait until all parts have come
to a complete standstill
3. Disconnect spark plug wire to
prevent accidental starting
Danger
Do not at any time make any
adjustment to the unit without
first stopping engine and
disconnecting spark plug wire.
Chipping (optional) /
Vacuuming
Grasp upper handle to push unit
over yard waste. Yard waste such
as leaves and pine needles can be
vacuumed up through the nozzle
for shredding (figure 5). After
material has been shredded by the
flail blades on the impeller
assembly, it will be discharged
into catcher bag or through
blower chute (optional).
NOTE: Figure 13
In units furnished with a suction
hose put the lever (1) to the top
position, the suction hose adapter
must be simultaneously placed in
the first/lowest locking hole (2).
(This is necessary if you operate
the unit furnished with a suction
hose).
Chipping (optional)Do not
attempt to shred or chip any
material other than vegetation
found in a normal yard (i.e.,
branches, leaves, twigs, etc.).
Avoid fibrous plants such as
tomato vines until they are
thoroughly dried out. Material
4
such as stalks or heavy branches
up to 1 1/2" in diameter may be
fed into the chipper chute. See
figure 5.
Note:
Secure unit against moving and
place it on a leveled surface when
working with the chipper chute.
Figure 5
1. Chipper chute(optional)
2. Nozzle
Nozzle
The nozzle can be adjusted to any
of five positions, ranging from
5/6" to 3 3/4" ground clearance.
The nozzle height has to be
adjusted according to the
conditions with the height
adjustment lever (1) - figure 6.
Example:
Raise the nozzle height to
vacuum a thick layer of leaves or
to operate with the blower chute
or if you are working on leveled
surfaces.
Figure 6:
Figure is shown without engine
for clarity
1. Height Adjustment lever
2. Nozzle
Work with a suction hose
(according to the design)
Figure 14
Put the lever (1) to the
lowest position.
Insert the suction hose
adapter fully into the
connecting socket and fix it
in the second/top locking
hole (2).
Take the suction hose adapter
with handle out of the
clips/guidance.
Take hold of the suction hose
handle and suck off grass,
leaves or foliage residues at
hardly accessible places.
