Thin branches can be sawn with one cut.
To prevent shredding and breaking, cut
branches in several sections.
When sawing thicker branches, fi rst cut the
underside around 10 cm from the trunk to
prevent it breaking off , and then saw the
upper side. Finally cut the residual branch
stump off fully close to the trunk. Seal any
sawn surfaces to avoid the tree bleeding if
you are cutting trees that are to remain there.
Note! Lubricate the saw chain and blade
regularly as you work by dripping a few
drops of chain oil into the groove on the
blade.

Sharpening the saw chain

1. Secure the blade in a vice.
2. The saw chain teeth point alternately in
the opposite direction to each other. First
sharpen one set of teeth with a round fi le,
then turn the pruning saw and sharpen
the other set of teeth. The teeth must be
sharpened from the side they point out
towards.
Mark the fi rst tooth with a felt-tip pen
or similar, so that you can see when you
have sharpened the teeth all the way
around on the saw chain.
3. Place the fi le against a tooth and push
the fi le forward. Do not pull the fi le back,
but lift it up and fi le forward again.
File each tooth with the same number
of strokes of the fi le. The top of the fi le
should protrude approximately 1/5 up
above the tooth.
4. Finally, fi le any riders using a depth-
gauge tool and a fl at fi le. The riders
must all have the same height and be
approximately 0.65 mm lower than the
teeth.

Cleaning and maintenance

Clean the pruning saw by wiping exterior
parts with a damp cloth. Ensure the
ventilation slots are kept free of dust and dirt.
Never use corrosive or abrasive cleaning
agents, as they may aff ect the plastic parts of
the pruning saw.
Remove the saw chain and blade regularly
and clean the groove in the blade. Remove
the cover and brush the area around the
gearwheel and the chain tensioner knob
using a soft brush.
Sharpen the teeth using a saw chain fi le
or electric grinder. Be very careful when
sharpening the teeth! Get the saw chain
ground by an expert.
Replace the saw chain when the teeth are
worn down to the mark.
Check for blade and chain wheel wear
regularly and replace if necessary.
Always place the protective cover (14) on
the blade when transporting or storing the
pruning saw.
