INSTALLATION INSTRuCTIONS
4. Mount the System continued
NOTE: Select location under sink or in basement where the system is
to be mounted.
NOTE: The system can be mounted vertically (Figure 4A) or
horizontally (Figure 4B). Dimensions in both diagrams allow for
cartridge removal or system removal.
A)

Vertical installation

requires a minimum space of 16 inches
wide by 20.25 inches high. Ensure that the mounting bracket is
level and the bracket tabs angle away from the mounting surface.
When mounting the US2000 in the vertical (upright) position, the
bracket will be centered on the backside of the unit. The blade of
the bracket will straddle the two filter heads.
B)

Horizontal installation

wide by 16 inches high. Ensure that the mounting bracket is level
and the bracket tabs angle away from the mounting surface.
C)
Use the 3/32-inch drill bit to create pilot holes for the mounting
bracket. If using wall anchors, use the size drill bit recommend by
the wall anchor manufacturer.
D)
Using wall anchors or supplied screws, attach the bracket to the
wall with tabs facing upward.
E)
Slide the unit down so the bracket slides into the slot on the
back of the unit. The unit should fit snugly on the bracket, if not
reposition the unit until a snug fit is obtained.
F)
Remove paper tab from battery to activate cartridge life indicator.
Press the reset button to start a 6-month timer. The LED will flash.
When 6 months has passed, the change cartridge indicator light
on the life monitor will be illuminated.
5. Connect the System to Faucet
CAUTION
Do not bend or kink tube when inserting.
A)
Determine the length of plastic tubing needed to connect the
outlet (right) side of the filter with the faucet. Be sure to allow
enough tubing to prevent kinking and cut the tubing squarely.
Slide compression nut and ferrule over the tubing. Slide the tubing
insert into the tube. Push tube into the bottom of the faucet stem.
Slide the compression nut up and tighten until slight resistance is
felt. Then tighten with a wrench 1
NOTE: Do not over-tighten the compression nut. Tighten further only
if leaks appear after putting the system into operation.
B)
Use a marker to mark 5/8 inch from remaining end of the tubing.
Wet the end of the tube. Insert the end into the white collar fitting
on the outlet (right) side of the system. The tube should go in up
to the mark. (See illustration on page 5.)
NOTE: Routine maintenance and cartridge changes will not require
you to disconnect the tubing from the filter system; however, tubing
may be quickly and easily removed from the fitting if necessary.
First turn off water supply to unit. Open the faucet, then press in the
white collar around the tubing while pulling the tubing with your
other hand.
C)
Route the cartridge life indicator cable to the system. Ensure
that cable routing includes a drip loop to prevent potential water
leaks from entering the cable connection on top of the system.
Insert the plug at the end of the cable into the outlet on the top
of the system.
