Measurement and transmission intervals
By default, the sensor measures the distance to the
nearest object within the detection range every 2 minutes
and transmits the data to the gateway every 10 minutes.
The transmission frequency can be set to between
4 minutes and 24 hours and any change directly affects
the battery life (see Tab. 4-1). The battery life specifications
are theoretical, as the ambient conditions of the area of
use can also have an influence on the battery life.

SF (Spreading Factor) is a measure of the transmission speed. The higher
the SF, the longer the transmission time. The transmission time has a
significant influence on the battery life. The longer the transmission time,
the shorter the battery life. With increasingly poor connection quality
between gateway and sensor, the transmission speed reduces from SF7
downwards to SF12. Among other factors, the connection quality
reduces with increasing distance, physical barriers in buildings, machines
and steel structures between gateway and sensor.
To improve the connection quality, the gateway can be placed closer to
the sensor or another gateway can be used in closer proximity to the
sensor.
