Startup and operation

6.1

Startup

Sensor
In the delivery state, the sensor is in shipping
mode. In this state, the sensor is largely inactive
and consumes little energy.
Activate sensor from shipping mode
► Press the button briefly.
⇒ The sensor now performs a measurement and
transmits the data via LoRaWAN. During this time,
the yellow LED lights up for two seconds. A
successful data transmission is confirmed by the
yellow LED flashing three times.
If the sensor is used in conjunction with the Smart
Reordering System, the sensor should also be displayed
as online (
) in the device overview after successful
commissioning and with an active connection to the cloud
application. If this is not the case, the FAQ provided in the
application can be used for assistance or contact our
service staff directly via the service desk tool within the
application.
Gateway
The prerequisite is that a LoRaWAN gateway with which
the sensor can communicate is located nearby and is
switched on.
If the LoRaWAN gateway is within reception range, the
sensor automatically connects to it. After successful data
transmission, the yellow LED flashes three times.
If this is not the case, the yellow and red LEDs flash slowly
three times simultaneously. After four minutes, another
connection attempt is started.
Signal strength
The signal strength depends on the location of use of the
sensor, the location of the gateway and various
interference factors (e.g. a lot of steel in large warehouses).
In case of a weak connection or connection problems, the
signal strength can be improved as follows:
► Place the gateway closer to the sensor.
► If necessary, set up another gateway within range.

Operation

6.2.1

Key functions

Activate sensor from shipping mode
► Press the button briefly.
⇒ The sensor now performs a measurement and
transmits the data via LoRaWAN. During this time,
the yellow LED lights up for two seconds. A
successful data transmission is confirmed by the
yellow LED flashing three times.
Set sensor to shipping mode
► Press and hold the button until the yellow and red
LEDs light up simultaneously.
Reset sensor (Reset)
► Press the button until the yellow and red LEDs flash.
⇒ After the reset, the sensor reconnects to the
gateway, performs a measurement and signals
successful data transmission by flashing the yellow
LED three times.
6.2.2

Battery replacement

Depending on the measurement rate and transmission
rate, the sensor can last for several years without battery
replacement. The current battery charge level is
automatically transmitted by the sensor and can be viewed
in the cloud application.
To change the battery, unscrew the four screws on the
back of the sensor and replace the battery. We
recommend using the same type of battery.

Operating notes

DANGER
Fire hazard
Batteries are installed in the product. Heating of the
batteries may cause a fire.
► Check the ambient conditions regularly and comply
with the specifications.
In case of problems with the sensor (for error messages,
see Tab. 4-3 on page 8), the sensor automatically goes
into shipping mode. In case of unforeseen problems, a
reset may be necessary.
6.4

Maintenance

For proper functioning, dirt and contamination must be
regularly cleaned off the ToF window. Use a damp and
lint-free cloth for cleaning – no chemical cleaning agents!
