Can earwax affect the reading?
While a small amount of earwax in the ear does not have an effect, a
larger amount may affect results. Earwax on the lens may cause an
inaccurate reading. Therefore, clean the lens before and after each use.
Can an ear thermometer be used when the patient
has an ear infection?
To prevent unnecessary pain or discomfort, we recommend that
the measurement be taken in an unaffected ear or with another
type of thermometer at another measurement site.
Will ambient air temperatures affect results?
An accurate reading can be produced in an air temperature
anywhere between 60.8° F and 104.0° F (16.0° C – 40.0° C).
