4 Connections
4.1 Pre-Connection Warnings
1. Before connection, read section 1.1 Important Safety Instructions.
2 The UPS is supplied with a standard power cord and receptacles suitable for use in your area of operation. Only qualified
personnel should perform installation, wiring, operation and maintenance.
3 Before connecting any input wiring to the UPS, ensure all circuits being used are the proper voltage and current required for
the UPS. The power supply to the UPS must be single-phase in accordance with its rating label.
4 Calculate the power consumption of the connected loads to ensure an overload condition will not occur.
5 Prior to providing any power to the UPS, the UPS must be suitably grounded. The unit is equipped with a safety-inspected
mains line and must be connected to an earthing-contact wall socket. If the wall socket does not have an earthing
function, please ground the UPS via the ground terminal located at the rear of the UPS. Refer to section 2.3 Rear Panels
for more information.
4.2 Communication Interface Connections
Select SMART & SMC 0.7~1.5kVA series UPS communication interfaces may include an RS-232 port, a USB port, a smart
slot and an EPO/ROO port. Refer to section 2.3 Rear Panels for their locations. For more information about communication
interfaces, refer to section 7 Communication Interfaces.
4.3 Critical Load Connection
1. Before connection, read section 4.1 Pre-Connection Warnings.
2 Calculate the power consumption of your loads to ensure an overload condition will not occur.
3 Follow your loads to select proper cables to connect the UPS output outlets and the loads.
4 Plug the power cord(s) of the equipment into the UPS output receptacles located at the rear of the unit.
WARNING: Do not connect laser printers or scanners to the UPS.
