Maintenance and cleaning
WARNING
Electric shock from live components
There is a risk of fatal electric shock if the device is live during maintenance, cleaning, or disassembly.
► Switch off the device.
► Disconnect all electrical connections.
► Order the equipment parts and wear parts separately.
► Use only original ABICOR BINZEL wear parts.
7.1
Maintenance and cleaning intervals
Daily
► Check the earth clamp for oxidation and
clean as needed.
7.2
Replacing the carbon fibre brush, Fig. 3
If the carbon fibre brush is worn, it must be replaced. Carbon fibre brushes
that are not screwed on tightly enough can create contact problems in the
thread.

Faults and troubleshooting
8.1
Fuse has blown
In the event of an overload or electrical short-circuit, the circuit breaker
interrupts the circuit. The fuse button springs from the housing. The circuit
breaker trips if there is insufficient electrolyte on the carbon fibre brush or if
the carbon fibre brush is pressed too firmly onto the workpiece.
8.2
Insufficient power
No power or insufficient power is present at the front of the carbon fibre
brush. There is insufficient contact between the threaded part and the carbon
fibre brush.
► Check thread for oxidation, damage, and a loose fit.
8.3
Poor cleaning power
The weld seam becomes dull:
► Do not stay too long in one spot.
► Cool the surface (spray water on the surface).
► Increase electrolyte amount.
► Use unused electrolyte.
3 Slide the transparent protective cap over the carbon fibre brush.
5 Rinse the carbon fibre brush with running water and slide the transparent
protective cap over it.
6 Dilute electrolyte residues.
7 Carefully close the electrolyte container (2×).
8 Stow the device and accessories in the transport box and secure from
unintentional opening (e.g., with cable ties).
9 Store the device in the transport box so it remains dry and frost-free.
► Press the high-current plug into the high-current socket until it meets
resistance (slight click). The locking mechanism is released.
► Remove the high-current plug from of the socket.
► Order data and part numbers for the equipment parts and wear parts
can be found in the current order documents.
Every six months
► Check and clean the cable.
1 Remove the screw sleeve and push the insulating sleeve underneath and
back.
2 Remove the carbon fibre brush with two open-end spanners. Counter the
adapter to prevent damage to the handle.
3 Mount the new carbon fibre brush.
 4.1 Mounting the carbon fibre brush, Fig. 3 on page EN-12
1 Switch off the device.
2 Allow the fuse to cool down for a moment.
3 Make sure that the carbon fibre brush does not touch the workpiece.
4 Press the fuse button back into the housing.
1 Clean the thread with the wire brush.
2 Lubricate the thread with copper paste or MOLYKOTE grease.
3 Screw the threaded part and carbon fibre brush tightly together.
Stains after rinsing:
► Rinse thoroughly with water.
► Use water with a lower level of hardness.
► Process shorter sections.
► Use distilled water.
► Rinse when the material surface is still hot.
6 Putting out of operation
Yearly
► Retest as per VDE 0701-0702.
