5.2. Operation

5.2.1. Charging the battery

The battery blocks supplied are shipped from the factory with a low charge to avoid
potential problems. They must therefore be charged before use until the green LED on the
front of the charger lights up continuously.
When the charger is connected to the mains power, the red LED lights up. When inserting
the battery, the green LED flashes to indicate that the battery is being charged. If the green
LED lights up continuously, charging is connected.
A flashing red LED indicates that the battery is faulty. This could be because the battery
is hot, cold or faulty. Disconnect it from the charger and wait 30 minutes before trying to
charge the battery again.

Make sure that the power supply is suitable for the charger supplied. Also ensure that the
battery is correctly aligned and inserted into the charger as instructed.
Do not attempt to open batteries or the charger. They do not contain any repairable parts.
Once the battery is fully charged, the Bona OptiSpread UX battery can be used.

5.2.2. Filling/tubular bag change

To fill the Bona OptiSpread UX, as well as to change an emptied tubular bag, place the
machine on the supplied support stand. Secure the machine at the head end with the
clamping rubber.
1. Unscrew the nozzle head, which is fastened to the filling tube with a union nut and put it
to one side.
2. Remove the remaining emptied tubular bag
3. Unlock the toothed rack and pull it out again completely by the hook handle (fig. 1)
4. Insert the new tubular bag horizontally and remove the clip. When inserting, please make
sure that the bag does not kink (fig. 2, 3)
5. Screw the nozzle head back on, loosen the clamping rubber and take the machine off the
support stand. When placing the nozzles, make sure that the pointed end of the teeth
points upwards.
Note: If the charger does not charge the battery under normal conditions, please
contact the Bona service number listed.
Note: When charging for the first time, batteries do not charge completely.
