Potentiometers
FREQ.
Sets the oscillator frequency. It has a range of 7 full octaves by default. It is also possible to have a range of 12
semitones (different octaves).
Turn the knob fully CCW for selecting the full range. By turning it to the right, the FREQ. range will be 12 semito-
nes (there are 7 octavas available).
CLUSTER
Adjusts the number of "stars", the waves, that will sound in the system. When the potentiometer is set to 12
o'clock, a single wave will sound. By turning CLUSTER clockwise, the number of waves will increase and all will
share a harmonic relationship. This relationship, aka chords, can be chosen in the ORBITS menu. However, if you
turn the knob to the left, the number of voices will also increase, but there won't be any harmonic relationship
between them. Complete chaos! 8 is the maximum number of waves.
Tip: if you turn CLUSTER fully CCW and COLOR CW, a white noise will sound. You can modify its resonant filter
mode (Low Pass, Band Pass and High Pass interpolated) with the SHAPE knob.
Change the chord type. We have included 16 (ordered from left to right):
Unison (+detuning), Octaves, Fifths, Sus2, Sus4, Major triad, M triad + 7m, M triad + 7m, M triad + 9, M triad +
11, M triad + 13, minor triad, m triad + 7m, m triad + 9, m triad + 11, m triad + 13.
SHAPE
Modify the waveform, from a sine wave to a square wave, for example. LANIAKEA includes 11 different waveta-
bles: analog, organs, drones... The waves included inside the wavetables are interpolated between them.
Furthermore, a little harmonic (additive) oscillator is included. When this oscillator is selected in the ORBITS
menu, the SHAPE knob controls the oscillator waveform too. The possible shapes are like the included in the first
wavetable (analog). CLUSTER modifies the number of partials and COLOR, the final texture, by clipping frequen-
cies from the spectrum.
SHAPE also modifies the structure of the resonator: plastics, tubes, bells, strings...
Choose the the wavetable. The first one, fully CCW, is the "analog" wavetable: sine, triangle, saw and pulse inter-
polated. While turning SHAPE you will select different wavetables (there is no interpolation between wavetables).
By turning this knob fully CW, you will choose the additive oscillator.
