This tool includes some or all of the following features.

Charging tool (fig.A)
The battery needs to be charged before first use and whenev-
er it fails to produce sufficient power on jobs that were easily
done before. The battery may become warm while charging;
this is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Warning! Only use the charger provided to charge the tool.
To charge the battery, insert the charger plug (6a) into the
u
connector (6).
Plug in the charger.
u
Leave the tool connected to the charger for 10 hours.
u
The charger may hum and become warm while charging; this
is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Warning! Do not charge the battery at ambient temperatures
below 10 °C or above 40 °C. Recommended charging tem-
perature: approx. 24 °C.
Fitting and removing a screwdriver bit or socket
(fig. B)
Warning! Make certain the tool is locked to prevent switch
actuation before installing or removing accessories.
To fit a screwdriver bit (8), push it into the bit holder (3)
u
until it locates.
To remove a screwdriver bit, pull it straight from the bit
u
holder.
Use
Warning! Let the tool work at its own pace. Do not overload.
Using the flashlight (fig. C)
Press the flashlight button (5) to operate the flashlight (4).
u
Press flashlight button (5) again to turn off the flashlight
u
(4).
Switching on and off (fig. D)
To operate the tool, press and hold the trigger switch (1).

To switch the tool off, release the trigger switch (1).

Selecting the direction of rotation (fig. E)
For tightening screws and drilling pilot holes, use forward
(clockwise) rotation. For loosening screws or removing a
jammed drill bit, use reverse (counterclockwise) rotation.

To select forward rotation, push the forward/reverse slider

(2) to the right.
To select reverse rotation, push the forward/reverse slider
u
(2) to the left.
To lock the tool, set the forward/reverse slider (2) into the
u
centre position.
Using the storage compartment (fig. F)
The unit is supplied with a removable storage compartment
(7) for storing drill and driver bits, screws, wall plugs etc.
Slide the storage compartment into the grooves located in
u
the base of the handle as shown in figure F.
Reverse this procedure to release the storage compart-
u
ment from the driver.
How to open/close storage compartment (fig. F)
The storage compartment (7) can be opened by flipping the
clasp (7a) and raising the lid as shown in figure F.
Maintenance
Your BLACK+DECKER tool has been designed to operate
over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance.
Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper tool
care and regular cleaning.
Your charger does not require any maintenance apart from
regular cleaning.
Warning! Before performing any maintenance on the tool,
remove the battery from the tool. Unplug the charger before
cleaning it.
Regularly clean the ventilation slots in your tool and

charger using a soft brush or dry cloth.
Regularly clean the motor housing using a damp cloth. Do
u
not use any abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.
Regularly tap bit holder to remove any dust from the
u
interior.
