6. Place the USB humidifier in the opening in the middle of the
foam insert. To prime the USB humidifier pour a bit of water in
the middle of the device, then turn it upside-down and lightly
shake to remove excess water. Then place the USB humidifier
flat on the water so it will float and starts humidifying.
7. IMPORTANT Keep the tray filled with water throughout
the entire incubation period! The sloped basin leads water
condensation back to the humidifier reservoir, so water needs to
be replenished less often. However, it is advisable to check the
water-level on a regular daily basis to ensure the USB humidifier
membrane is submerged. To replenish the water, simply lift up
the USB humidifier, replenish the water up to 1,5cm (0.6") and
place the USB humidifier back in the open space in the foam. If
needed, prime the USB humidifier again.
Thoroughly research the average incubation temperature and
humidity for your species and set the Exo Terra
Incubator PRO accordingly. When using closed and perforated
containers with moist incubation media, the need to use the USB
humidifier may be greatly reduced or unnecessary, as the internal
humidity within the container would be more stable and constant.
It is recommended to check the humidity inside the incubation
containers periodically.
WARNING: The LED digital display is for reference only, and may
NOT reflect the actual temperature in the egg incubation container!
Always use a thermometer inside the egg incubation container to
monitor the actual temperatures that the eggs are exposed to.
SETTING HEATING MODE, TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY
6
The Incubator PRO's initial setting is as follows: Pulse Proportional
mode, 30°C (86° F) and 75% relative humidity.
The general guideline for relative humidity when incubating
soft-shelled eggs is 80-90% while 70-80% is the rule of thumb
for hard-shelled eggs. But please keep in mind that the relative
humidity inside the egg container will almost certainly be much
higher than the relative humidity measured in the incubator. There's
no need to set the Incubator's relative humidity to 90% if you
are incubating your reptile eggs in a closed and perforated egg
container. A 70-75% humidity setting will suffice to stabilize the
relative humidity in the egg containers, and will help prolong the
lifespan of the USB Humidifier. To verify the relative humidity inside
the egg incubation container, use a digital hygrometer like the Exo
Terra Hygrometer (PT2477) or the Exo Terra Digital Combometer
(PT2470) to check both the temperature and humidity.
IMPORTANT: The unit comes with 1 USB humidifier. The membrane
in the USB humidifier has a limited lifespan and will need to be
replaced after approx. 800 working hours or whenever necessary.
In areas where water hardness is a concern, the formation of
mineral deposits on the humidifier is a common occurrence and will
reduce the lifespan of the USB humidifier. The use of demineralized
(reverse osmosis) water or purified water will prolong the life of the
USB humidifier. Also, operating the USB humidifier at lower relative
humidity will increase its lifespan.

The standard and most accurate setting of the Exo Terra Incubator
PRO is the Pulse Proportional mode but both the Pulse Proportional
and the Dimming mode provide very accurate temperature control
and virtually eliminate all temperature swings. If you prefer wider
temperature fluctuations for specific types of incubation, set the
Incubator to the ON/OFF mode.
1. Press and hold the SET button until the heating mode indicator
LED starts flashing, then press «+» or «-» to define the heating
mode: PULSE, DIMMING or ON/OFF;
2. Press the SET button to store the heating mode and the
HUMIDITY LED DISPLAY will start flashing; press «+» or «-» to
increase or decrease the humidity level setting;
3. Press the SET button to store the humidity level setting and the
°C / °F LED will start flashing: press «+» or «-» to select °C or
°F readout;
4. Press the SET button to store the °C or °F readout setting and
the temperature LED DISPLAY will start flashing; press «+» or «-»
to increase or decrease the setting to the desired temperature;
5. Press the SET button once again to store the temperature setting
and all settings will flash twice to indicate that the setting is
completed.
FINE TUNING:
1. Place one or more appropriate egg incubating containers (size
depending on the species, egg size and number of eggs) holding
moistened egg incubation media of your choice in the incubator
(at this stage do not yet place eggs in the incubator!) Please
read notes on preparation of the incubation medium and
incubation of reptile eggs below.
2. Place one or more analog or digital thermometers (for instance
PT2472 Digital Thermometer or PT2470 Thermo-Hygrometer) at
the exact spot of the incubating containers (or preferably inside
the incubating container) to check the correct temperature at the
egg incubation site.
3. Close the Incubator lid and let the unit run for about 24 hours
then check the temperature of the egg incubating containers.
The temperature shown on the LED digital display may differ
from the actual incubation temperature measured in the egg
incubation container. If the temperature measured in the egg
incubating containers is (for instance) 2°C (4°F) below the
desired temperature, then use the «+» button to increase the
temperature shown on the LED display with 2°C (4°F). Run
the unit for a couple of hours and check the temperature in
the egg incubating containers once more. Repeat until desired
temperature in the egg incubating containers is stable.
4. Place the reptile eggs in the egg incubating containers (Please
read notes on preparation of the incubation medium and
incubation of reptile eggs below).
5. To check the current settings at any point in time: press «-» once
and the selected temperature, humidity and heating modes will
show for 10 seconds – after 10 seconds, the display will return
to indicate the actual temperature and humidity.
IMPORTANT
The temperature display and the setting is an approximate value
and does not 100% represent the actual temperature inside the
unit as the sensor is not directly placed in the incubation area. The
difference between the actual temperature in the incubation area
and the reading on the display depends on the ambient temperature
