4.1
Transport
Check the instrument for any damage that may have been caused by transport.
EN
Visible damage
If externally visible transport damage is detected upon receipt of the shipment, proceed
as follows:
▶
Immediately record the detected transport damage in the shipping documents and
have them countersigned by the deliverer.
▶
In the event of significant damage, total loss or high damage costs, immediately
notify the manufacturer and the relevant insurance company.
▶
Do not change the state of damage any further after it has been discovered and also
keep the packaging material until a decision has been made about an inspection by
the transport company or the transport insurer.
▶
Record the damage on the spot with the transport companies involved. This is
indispensable for a claim for damages!
▶
Photograph damage to packaging and packaged goods. This also applies to
corrosion effects of the packaged goods due to ingress of moisture (rain, snow,
condensation).
▶
Name the damaged parts.
Hidden damage
In the event of damage that is not discovered until after receipt of the shipment during
unpacking (hidden damage), proceed as follows:
▶
Hold the party who may have caused the damage liable as soon as possible by
telephone and in writing and prepare a damage report.
▶
Observe the deadlines valid in the respective country. Gather information in a timely
manner.
With hidden damage, it is difficult to get in contact with the transport company (or other
parties responsible for the damage). From an insurance point of view, such a claim can
only be settled with a chance of success if this is expressly stipulated in the insurance
conditions.
CAUTION!
Damage through improper transport
With improper transport, a high level of damage to property can occur.
