Switching Off
– Press the red power-off button (1) (0).
Power Outage
The on/off switch acts as a zero-voltage switch that prevents
the power tool from starting up again following a power out-
age (e.g. if the mains plug is removed during operation).
– To restart the power tool following a power outage, press
the green "on" button (2) again.
Working Advice
General Sawing Instructions
Before making any cuts, first make sure that the saw
u
blade cannot come into contact with the stops or any
other parts of the tool at any time.
Protect the saw blade against impact and shock. Do not sub-
ject the saw blade to lateral pressure.
Take care that the riving knife is in line with the saw blade.
Do not saw workpieces that have become bent or twisted
out of shape. The workpiece must always have a straight
edge to face against the parallel guide.
Always store the push stick on the power tool.
Do not use the power tool for routing, grooving or cutting
slots.
The free end of long workpieces must have something
placed underneath it or be supported (see figure
Position of the Operator (see figure
Do not stand in line with the saw blade in front of the
u
power tool. Always stand to the side of the saw blade.
This protects your body against possible kickback.
– Keep hands, fingers and arms away from the rotating saw
blade.
Pay attention to the following instructions:
– Hold the workpiece firmly with both hands and press it
securely against the saw table, especially when working
without a stop.
– Use the push stick provided when sawing narrow work-
pieces.
Sawing
Making Straight Cuts
– Adjust the parallel guide (61) to the required cutting
width (see "Adjusting the Parallel Guide (see figure
C)", page 46).
– Place the workpiece on the saw table in front of the pro-
tective guard (63).
– Adjust the correct saw blade height (see "Setting the Saw
Blade Height (see figure
B)", page 46).
– Make sure that the protective guard is positioned cor-
rectly. It must always lie on the workpiece when sawing.
– Switch on the power tool.
– Saw through the workpiece applying uniform feed.
– Switch off the power tool and wait until the saw blade has
come to a complete stop.
Bosch Power Tools
Checking and Adjusting the Basic Settings
Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
u
work on the power tool.
To ensure precise cuts, the basic settings of the power tool
must be checked and adjusted as necessary after intensive
use.
Experience and suitable special tools are required for this.
A Bosch after-sales service point will handle this work
quickly and reliably.
Adjusting the Spacing Indicator of the Parallel Guide
(see figure
– Use a workpiece or appropriate object with a precisely
defined width x. The length of the object should be ap-
proximately the diameter of the saw blade.
– Slide the object under the protective guard (63) and
place it flush against the saw blade.
– Slide the parallel guide (61) from the right until it touches
the object and lock the parallel guide in this position.
Checking:
The spacing indicator (69) must show the width x of the ob-
ject on the scale (65).
Adjusting:
– Loosen the screw (70) with the slotted screwdriver
provided and align the spacing indicator precisely to the
E).
width x.
Adjusting the Clamping Force of the Parallel Guide (see
F)
figure
The clamping force of the guide (71) on the parallel guide
can lessen with frequent use.
– Tighten the adjusting screw (72) until the parallel guide
can be securely fixed to the saw table again.
Align the parallel guide to the saw blade
– Use a workpiece or a suitable object with parallel edges.
The length of the object should be approximately the dia-
meter of the saw blade.
– Slide the object under the protective guard (63) and
place it flush against the saw blade.
– Move the parallel guide (61) from the right until it touches
the object.
Checking: (see figure
The parallel guide must be flush with object along its entire
length.
Adjusting:
– Remove the parallel guide from the saw table (59) and
use a cross-head screwdriver to loosen the three
screws (73) on the lower side of the guide rail of the par-
allel guide (see figure
– Push the parallel guide from the front until it is firmly
against the scale (65) and, while doing so, align the paral-
lel guide so it is flush along the object on the saw table
(see figure
