Cleaning and Disinfecting
The responsibility for cleaning and disinfection lies with the operator/user of the product. Be
sure to observe your local cleaning and hygiene regulations!
The focusing handpiece diomax
Dampen a soft cloth with disinfectant.
Carefully wipe focusing handpiece.
WARNING
Danger of serious injury when using defective accessories!
Using a product that is not in perfect working order or using defective accessories can pose a
hazard to patients or users and compromise the proper functioning of the product.
Be sure to maintain the device and its accessories in perfect operating condition. Perform
a visual inspection and check the system for insulation damage, cleanliness and integrity.
A product or accessories found to be unfit for use must be withdrawn from service.
Never sterilize the product!
The lenses or the rear opening for the supply fiber must not come into contact with the
liquid. No liquid may enter the interior of the product when spraying on cleaning agents or
disinfectants.
Never clean the product with abrasive cleaners, disinfectants or solvents that could scratch
the housing or damage the device in other ways.
Disinfect the surfaces of the main body, adapter sleeve and supply fiber using disinfectants
commonly used in surgical environments.
Only listed and approved disinfectants (RKI, DGHM, VAH) may be used for disinfection.
Observe the national, local and hospital-specific recommendations.
Use only disinfectants that have been tested and approved by the responsible national
bodies or have been proven to have bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal properties.
Under no circumstances may the focusing handpiece and the adapter sleeves be cleaned
using bleaching agents, chlorous cleaning agents, liquid or chemical disinfection agents or
other products on sodium hydroxide base. Such agents would corrode the surface coating
of the handpiece components.
Before using the focusing handpiece, make sure all disinfectant residues are removed.
Check the surfaces of the optics after the cleaning process.
Check the transmission of the optics (control of transmitted light).
