The Aligned Flange
4.0 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (SEE FIG. 4)
Once misalignment has occurred (see Fig. 1) the
following steps should be taken to bring the flanges
back into alignment:
1. Check the range of application chart (see Table
A) to establish if the flange size is within the ATM-
1 range;
2. Determine the bolt hole size and select bushing to
suit;
3. Attach the bushing selected to the dowel;
4. Insert the bushing / dowel into the bolt hole which
requires pulling (ie, the lower of the two flanges);
5. Loosen the butterfly nut of the dowel housing (see
Fig. 4 ref. B) and adjust apart until the fulcrum
(see Fig. 4 ref. A) is centered on the circumference
of the opposite (and higher) flange;
6. Lift the handle (see Fig. 2) until the two flanges are
in alignment (see Fig. 3), and;
7. Insert the first bolt (see Fig. 3).

If access is difficult, the fulcrum (see Fig. 4 ref A)
and dowel housing (see Fig. 4 ref B) can be
reversed. The flange joint can then be accessed from
the opposite side with the fulcrum being pushed
down on the higher flange until alignment occurs
(see Fig. 5).
