Introduction
Super-high frequency volumetric sensor 5462
completes car protection by detecting attempts
GB
to break into the passenger compartment.
Advantages: this sensor can be installed in a
hidden position under the upholstery in the
passenger compartment (panelling, roof light
compartment) and is insensitive to air movements,
so the windows can be left open.
Thanks to these characteristics, it is particularly
suitable for vehicles with sun roofs, convertible
coupés and pick-up trucks.
Operation
Sensor operation is based on the "Doppler effect"
principle according to which a moving conductor
object hit by electromagnetic waves (EM) at a high
frequency causes the beams to be reflected in a
different way. If the reflected waves are measured,
the foreign body can be identified and an alarm
signal can be generated.
These conductor objects include metals, the
human body, bags and suitcases, etc.
Car windows are non-conductor objects (thus not
recognized by the sensor), so the electromagnetic
waves can escape from the passenger
compartment and create false alarms if the sensor
is badly positioned or regulated.
